Errol Musk believes his son should immediately resolve his dispute with Donald Trump, given the president’s widespread support.
Errol Musk believes Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, will ultimately lose his conflict with U.S. President Donald Trump due to Trump’s strong popularity.
The disagreement between the former allies, which began over Trump’s tax and spending proposals, intensified with exchanges on social media on Thursday.
Elon Musk, who recently resigned from his government role, accused Trump of being ungrateful, voiced support for impeachment, and threatened to disrupt the U.S. space program by shutting down the Dragon spacecraft.
President Trump responded by calling Musk “crazy” and suggested that Musk’s anger stemmed from the cancellation of an electric vehicle mandate.
Errol Musk told Al Arabiya on Friday that Trump is likely to win the conflict due to his popular support in America. He stated, “Trump, of course, will prevail because he has been voted in by the majority of the people in America. I have just been three weeks in America – the people are, I would like to say, 80%, but actually 100% behind Trump.”
The elder Musk mentioned sending a message to Elon after the argument began, urging him to quickly end it: “telling him to make sure this fizzles out now.”
Errol Musk described the situation as a power struggle: “What has happened is, you know, the alphas have sort of… cleared the opposition and like most animals, elephants… lions and so forth, and humans, are now looking to take on each other. It seems a bit silly to me,”
He attributed the dispute to stress: Both Trump and Elon Musk “have been through a great deal of stress… You can expect this kind of thing, you know, when you are the focus of attention day and night. Eventually, people reach a point where they lash out… I think there is a bit of tiredness here,”
Errol Musk believes that a swift resolution would make the conflict just “a bump in the road” in Elon’s relationship with Trump. When asked about the possibility of reconciliation, he responded: “Yes, of course. Yes, of course.”
