The US president asserted that the US and its allies have “total control” over Iranian airspace.
Amidst heightened military tensions with Israel, US President Donald Trump has demanded Iran’s “unconditional surrender.” He further claimed on Truth Social that “we now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran.”
The conflict between Israel and Iran has escalated following Israeli strikes on Iranian facilities, including a uranium enrichment center and military sites, as well as drone and car bomb attacks that resulted in the deaths of Iranian military officials, scientists, and civilians.
Iran responded with ballistic missile attacks on Israel, leading to continued exchanges between the two nations.
Trump emphasized his demand for “unconditional surrender” in a Truth Social post on Tuesday. He also directly threatened Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stating that the US and its allies “know exactly” his location, calling him an “easy target,” but adding that “we are not going to take him out… at least for now.”
“Our patience is wearing thin,” the US president added.
The American leader told reporters on Tuesday that his objectives in the conflict surpass a mere ceasefire, aiming for Iran to completely abandon “nuclear weapons.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu echoed this sentiment on Monday, claiming Israeli “control of the skies over Tehran” and advising residents to evacuate.
Iran signaled its intent to continue fighting on Tuesday. Brigadier General Reza Talayi-Nik, Iran’s defense ministry spokesman, stated in a televised interview that “The enemy cannot sustain a long war, and as it continues, the back of the Zionist regime will be broken,” also announcing the deployment of new missile systems for retaliatory strikes.
“Today, we used one of our missiles for the first time, and the Zionist regime didn’t even realize it had been deployed. They will see more of these surprises,” he said. The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) reported successful strikes on Israel’s military intelligence logistical headquarters and a Mossad intelligence center in the Tel Aviv area on Tuesday. The IRGC claimed the targets were hit “despite the presence of highly advanced defense systems.”
Israel justified its Friday attack by alleging Iran was nearing nuclear weapon development, an accusation Tehran has consistently denied, asserting its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.
In late March, US National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard stated that US intelligence indicated Iran was “not building a nuclear weapon” and had suspended its nuclear arms program since 2003. Trump dismissed this assessment on Tuesday, stating he did “not care what she said.”
