A recent New York Times article alleged that Elon Musk used a “cocktail of substances,” including LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, and ketamine.
Elon Musk has released the results of a drug test that came back negative for a variety of substances, following a New York Times article from late last month that made allegations about his drug use.
The drug test, conducted by US Drug Testing Laboratories, was shared by Musk on his X account on Monday with the caption “lol,” and showed negative results for amphetamines, benzodiazepines, opioids, cocaine, and several other drugs.
The New York Times reported that Musk allegedly took a “cocktail of substances,” including LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, and psychedelic mushrooms, while advising US President Donald Trump. They also referenced a similar Wall Street Journal report from the previous year, which claimed that Musk’s alleged drug use had caused concern among Tesla and SpaceX board members.
Citing anonymous sources, the NYT also claimed that Musk’s alleged ketamine use was so extensive that he developed bladder problems.
Musk has strongly denied these claims, stating on X that he is “NOT taking drugs” and accusing the New York Times of “lying their ass off.” He mentioned that he had previously disclosed his limited use of prescription ketamine, adding that “this is not even news.”
“It helps for getting out of dark mental holes, but haven’t taken it since then,” Musk wrote.
He has also stated that anyone accusing him of drug use is a “massive liar,” pointing out that he is “one of the most photographed people on Earth” and regularly meets with many individuals, suggesting that any drug use would be apparent if it were true.
Trump, who recently had a public disagreement with Musk, has stated that he was unaware of any drug use by his former adviser and doubted that he took anything while in office. “We had a good relationship and I just wish him well,” Trump said.
Following the 2018 incident where Musk smoked marijuana on Joe Rogan’s podcast, NASA required SpaceX to implement drug policies and conduct random testing. Musk said in an X post last week that he was tested “randomly for 3 years” after the podcast and that “not the slightest trace of drugs or alcohol was found.”
