Boasting luxurious walnut and gold interiors, this unique accommodation gives guests the chance to experience billionaire-style living.
A private jet, reportedly once owned by infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar, has been transformed into an Airbnb rental in Bristol, UK. Amenities include a hot tub and sauna.
The Boeing 727, stripped of its wings and engines, features a renovated 1980s-style interior. Now known as PYTCHAir, the brightly painted aircraft is situated on an industrial estate in Bristol.
Built in 1968, the jet was converted for private use in 1981 and decommissioned in 2012, according to its current owner, businessman Johnny Palmer, who spoke to the Bristol Post.
“There’s an element of role-playing involved – people enjoy living out that fantasy for a while before returning to their everyday lives,” Palmer explained. The Airbnb listing advertises the opportunity to “live like a billionaire at 32.”
While the Airbnb listing doesn’t mention Pablo Escobar, and the plane’s past ownership in the Cayman Islands makes tracking previous owners difficult, Palmer believes the notorious drug lord was a former owner.
Escobar, the Colombian drug kingpin known as the “king of cocaine” for his leadership of the Medellín Cartel, once controlled 80% of the global cocaine trade. He was killed in Colombia in 1993, although the circumstances surrounding his death remain debated.
Palmer stated that the plane’s restoration was a multi-year project. The original 1981 interior has been meticulously restored.
“I handled much of the electrical work myself, and I also employed a plumber and a carpenter – many people contributed,” he commented.
The interior features walnut paneling, leather seating, and a gold-plated shower and toilet. An outdoor shower complements the hot tub and sauna.
Prices start at £250 ($311) per night, with peak season rates reaching £850 ($1,056).
Palmer intends to reinvest profits into further jet restoration and experience enhancements.
