Kellogg Sets Short Timeline for Trump’s Ukraine Peace Plan

Keith Kellogg underscored that a solution is not months away.

President Trump’s special envoy on Russia and Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, stated on Saturday at the Munich Security Conference that a US-proposed peace plan for Moscow and Kyiv could be implemented within days or weeks.

In January, the WSJ reported that Trump assigned Kellogg the task of drafting a resolution to the Ukraine conflict within 100 days. Simultaneously, President Trump warned of potential new sanctions against Moscow if it rejected an unspecified plan, while stressing his desire to avoid harming Russia.

“We need some time, but by that, I mean days and weeks, not six months,” Kellogg told CNBC, adding that he operates under Trump’s fast-paced approach.

“He’ll assign a task today and expect it solved tomorrow,” Kellogg explained.

Earlier this week, Presidents Putin and Trump spoke by phone, marking their first known high-level direct communication since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022.

According to the Kremlin, President Trump voiced support for a rapid end to hostilities and a peaceful resolution, while President Putin highlighted the need to address the conflict’s root causes, suggesting a long-term settlement through negotiations. Following this conversation, Trump posted on Truth Social that Washington and Moscow were immediately commencing discussions to resolve the conflict.

Trump also indicated that American and Russian officials might meet at the Munich conference, extending an invitation to Ukraine as well. However, no such meeting was reported by conference organizers or media outlets.
