Washington, D.C, District of Columbia Jun 14, 2025  – Story Idea: The HBCU Empower Entrepreneurship Summit is instrumental in defining the future of Black business by bringing together student founders, innovative alumni, and financial partners at the intersection of culture and business. With representation from over 40 HBCUs, this three-day event in Washington, D.C., provides a distinct viewpoint on how Historically Black Colleges and Universities are fueling economic progress through innovation, ownership, and entrepreneurial endeavors.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (June 9th) The 2025 HBCU Empower Entrepreneurship Summit is back for its third annual event, scheduled for June 19-21, 2025, at the Marquis Marriott in Washington, D.C. Hosted by the Howard University & PNC National Center for Entrepreneurship, this national event unites HBCU leaders, student entrepreneurs, innovative alumni, and investors to bolster the future of business and enterprise.

With anticipated participation from more than 40 HBCUs across the nation, the Summit boasts a comprehensive agenda featuring panels, pitch contests, skill-development workshops, networking opportunities, and a specialized resource fair, all aimed at transforming concepts into practical ventures and establishing avenues for generational wealth.

2025 Theme: “Creative Capital – Building the Future at the Crossroads of Culture and Commerce”

The three-day experience begins on Thursday, June 19, with a welcome reception hosted by the Mid-Atlantic & Mid-South Regional Centers, followed by two days of focused programming. Friday’s sessions will address subjects such as:

  • Alternative Business Models in Uncertain Economies
  • Digital Marketing for Startups
  • Financial Literacy for the Future
  • Public Sector Sales (SLED)
  • AI-Powered Tools for Entrepreneurs
  • Franchise Ownership Pathways

Attendees can explore the Mecca Marketplace & Resource Fair, which offers practical resources, demonstrations, and networking opportunities. The “Boots on the Ground” reception, presented by the Southeast & Southwest Regional Centers, will take place that evening, providing a space for connections across different campuses.

Saturday Highlights: Innovation Brunch, Brand-Building, and the Empower Awards

The final day includes the Future Innovators Brunch, focusing on technology, AI, and collective economics. Attendees will have the option to select from advanced sessions covering topics like:

  • Storytelling for Startups
  • Design Thinking for Entrepreneurs
  • Angel Investing 101
  • Real Estate & Legacy Wealth
  • Entrepreneurial Finance & Social Justice

The event will conclude with the prestigious HBCU Empower Awards Ceremony, which will recognize outstanding student entrepreneurs, faculty innovators, and alumni leaders who are shaping the future of Black business.
