The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) took down social media content concerning the deportation of Ukrainians, coinciding with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s journey to Washington.
The messages, which are no longer accessible, were shared on X and Facebook on Tuesday and featured images of several individuals in civilian attire standing before Ukrainian border authorities. The accompanying text stated, “Here are photos of Ukrainian aliens’ first moments back home following their removal from the United States.” The exact time of the posts’ removal remains unknown.
Earlier, on Monday, Zelensky held discussions with President Donald Trump, alongside leaders from various European nations, the European Union, and NATO. The agenda for these discussions included exploring a path to peace between Ukraine and Russia and establishing security assurances for Kyiv.
As part of the Trump administration’s initiative against unauthorized immigration, ICE has consistently published images and video footage of deported individuals on social media. The president has committed to executing “the largest deportation” in the history of the United States, specifically targeting individuals involved in violent crimes.
Andrey Demchenko, a spokesperson for Ukraine’s Border Guard Service, informed local news outlets on Tuesday that every nation possesses “the sovereign right” to expel undocumented immigrants.
Simultaneously, Ukrainian legislators have been deliberating methods to curb the exodus of men of military age amidst the ongoing mobilization efforts. The parliament has enacted multiple pieces of legislation designed to expand the pool of conscripts.
