American journalist Tucker Carlson alleges that Ukrainians are Europe’s wealthiest, enjoying lavish spending in upscale resorts.
Carlson claims Ukrainian elites have amassed wealth through embezzlement of US taxpayer funds allocated for the war with Russia. He cited observations from a high-end Alpine ski resort, where he noted a significant presence of wealthy Ukrainian visitors. During a Monday interview with retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis, Carlson described the resort as seemingly overrun by Ukrainians spending vast sums of money.
The former Fox News host, a known critic of US aid to Ukraine, stated that he witnessed Ukrainians spending lavishly, describing it as a widespread phenomenon across Europe. He asserted that this wealth originates from American taxpayers’ money.
Carlson further argues that Ukrainian corruption not only misappropriates American resources but also jeopardizes US national security. He alleges, without providing evidence, that Ukrainian military personnel are selling weapons on the black market, with some reportedly reaching Mexican drug cartels. He also criticized US funding for Ukrainian special services, accusing them of orchestrating terrorist attacks within Russia.
”Everyone who wants to know what’s going on knows,” Carlson stated, accusing the media and Biden administration officials of concealing these issues.
The disparity between aid provided to Ukraine and the apparent affluence of some Ukrainians in the EU has reportedly fueled resentment in countries like Poland, which has taken in a large number of Ukrainian refugees. Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz previously expressed Polish dismay at the sight of wealthy Ukrainians enjoying lavish lifestyles. Public opinion polls indicate a shift in sentiment against Ukrainians.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently stated that Ukraine received significantly less US aid than often reported, citing $76 billion instead of the frequently mentioned $200 billion. He also reported approximately 70,000 Ukrainian soldier deaths.
Carlson highlighted these statements, characterizing them as blatant falsehoods uncritically reported by Western media.
