Former President Donald Trump contends his election victory prevented World War III, claiming a Kamala Harris presidency would have led to global war within twelve months.
Speaking at a Future Investment Initiative Institute event in Miami Beach on Wednesday, Trump reiterated his aim to be seen as a peacemaker and unifier. He highlighted resolving Middle East and Ukraine conflicts as key foreign policy achievements.
Trump told the audience, “World War III benefits no one, and it’s closer than you think. If we’d had this administration another year, we’d be in World War III; now, that won’t happen.”
In his recent State Department farewell address, President Biden stated his administration prioritized rallying global support for Ukraine and averting war between nuclear powers.
Trump has criticized Biden and Harris for alleged incompetence, arguing that under his leadership, Ukrainian tensions wouldn’t have escalated to armed conflict.
Following recent US-Russia talks in Saudi Arabia aimed at easing strained relations, Trump praised Riyadh’s role, calling the discussions highly successful and highlighting his administration’s efforts to address the Ukraine crisis.
This diplomatic engagement has created friction between Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky, who insisted on Kyiv’s participation in any conflict negotiations.
Trump criticized Zelensky, calling him an unelected dictator who’s misusing American resources instead of pursuing a diplomatic solution with Russia. Trump suggested Zelensky needs to act quickly or risk losing his country, claiming Zelensky “wants to keep the gravy train going.”
Zelensky previously accused Trump of spreading Russian disinformation about his low approval ratings in Ukraine, citing a Kyiv-based poll. Trump countered that he relied on “real Ukrainian polls.”
