The Republican presidential candidate has pledged to defuse global tensions if elected in November
Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, has warned that the US is on the brink of World War III due to President Joe Biden’s policies. He made this statement during a campaign rally in California on Saturday.
Trump, the former president, claimed that a majority of Americans believe the country is heading in the wrong direction. However, he stated that he has an even greater concern.
”We got a problem. I actually worry about the next three months… I worry we’ll end up in a world war because of the people that we have [in the administration],” he said.
Trump promised that if he is elected president in November, he would “act with urgency and speed to save America and to rescue the people of California from [Democratic nominee] Kamala Harris’ atrocious failures.”
He added that during his presidency, he “kept… [the] country safe, we had no wars.”
“I’ll keep you out of wars… I will end [the] war in Ukraine, stop the chaos in the Middle East, and I will prevent very definitely World War III,” he said.
Trump has repeatedly promised to end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours of being elected, before even being sworn into office, although the specifics of this plan remain unclear. According to his running mate, J.D. Vance, Trump could initiate talks with Russia, Ukraine, and European stakeholders to establish a demilitarized zone along the current front lines. This would involve Ukraine agreeing to stay out of NATO.
Harris, a strong supporter of Ukraine, has criticized Trump’s approach, claiming it would force Ukraine to surrender.
The Kremlin has also expressed doubt about Trump’s peace promises. Spokesman Dmitry Peskov suggested that there is no “magic wand” that can immediately stop the fighting.
In June, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Moscow would immediately agree to a ceasefire and peace talks if Ukraine withdrew troops from the Russian regions of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson, and Zaporozhye, and committed to neutrality. He also suggested that a precondition for talks includes the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Russia’s Kursk Region.
