On Thursday, the President stated that his administration was “attempting” to recover the former U.S. Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan “from” the Taliban.
Speaking to reporters while with U.K. Prime Minister Kier Starmer, the president criticized the way the U.S. withdrawal from was managed under President Joe Biden and announced he had “a little breaking news.”
“We’re trying to get it back,” Trump stated. “We’re trying to get it back because they need things from us.”
Trump did not elaborate on whom he was referencing or, assuming he meant the Taliban, the terrorist group that assumed control of the nation in 2021, what “they” required from the United States.
“We want that base back, but one of the reasons we want the base is, as you know, it’s an hour away from where China manufactures its nuclear weapons,” Trump further commented.
The White House did not immediately reply to Digital’s inquiries concerning the president’s assertions.
