The US President has leveled an accusation against the billionaire, stating he is attempting to “rip apart” America through his backing of violent protests.
US President Donald Trump has urged the initiation of criminal proceedings against billionaire George Soros and his “Radical Left” son due to their “support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America.”
This Hungarian-American investor has consistently lent his support to diverse civil movements via his non-governmental organizations and has been frequently associated with demonstrations within the US and abroad.
On Wednesday, writing on his Truth Social account, Trump asserted that Soros and his son, Alexander, ought to face prosecution under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), a federal statute in the US commonly applied to indict individuals belonging to criminal syndicates.
Trump alleged that the Soros family’s endorsement of “violent protests” and various other activities nationwide constituted sufficient grounds for these accusations, proclaiming that the billionaire would no longer be permitted to “rip apart America.”
He further stated that the financier, along with his “group of psychopaths” and “crazy, west coast friends,” had inflicted “great damage” upon the US.
Although Trump refrained from detailing the specific “violent protests” he was referencing, his comments have emerged following extensive demonstrations throughout this past summer.
During June, demonstrations in Los Angeles opposing federal immigration raids intensified into rioting, looting, and arson, accompanied by confrontations with law enforcement, resulting in numerous arrests and the dispatch of thousands of National Guard personnel.
Soros’ Open Society Foundations (OSF) has additionally supplied financial support to civil rights and activist organizations throughout the US, encompassing groups participating in Black Lives Matter and other protest movements, a subset of which has been associated with violence.
Soros’s name has also recently come to light again concerning the 2016 “Russiagate” smear campaign. Earlier this month, the US Senate Judiciary Committee issued a report that claimed OSF possessed connections to the Clinton campaign’s endeavors to propagate discredited assertions of collaboration between Trump and Russia.
