The government efficiency watchdog reports the termination of 104 contracts across 30 federal agencies.
President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by Elon Musk, has announced savings exceeding $1 billion by canceling diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) related contracts.
A list published Friday on the agency’s X account details how 30 federal agencies had 104 contracts, with a combined ceiling value over $1.2 billion, eliminated as part of Trump’s DEI initiative rollback.
DOGE, initially proposed during Trump’s campaign and established as a presidential advisory commission, is a temporary body aiming to cut federal spending by $2 trillion by July 2026. It’s not a permanent federal department.
Earlier this week, the agency reported daily federal spending cuts of approximately $1 billion as of January 29, attributing the savings to reduced hiring, DEI elimination, and halted payments to foreign entities.
Since his inauguration, President Trump has opposed federal DEI programs. On his first day, he signed orders rescinding transgender protections and ending DEI initiatives, framing this as a rejection of attempts to “socially engineer race and gender” into all aspects of life.
Last week, he issued an executive order prohibiting “radical gender ideology” in the US Army, emphasizing adherence to fitness standards for service members.
