A gunman initiated a shooting at an aviation college in Inglewood on Friday.

Authorities reported that a shooting occurred at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Inglewood, a suburb of Los Angeles, on Friday. At least two individuals were injured. Police are still searching for the suspect.

According to Inglewood Mayor James Butts, the injured parties are believed to be female employees of the college. Law enforcement is currently conducting a search of the campus to ensure there are no other victims.

The mayor stated that the shooting took place in an office within the school, and the suspected shooter is believed to be a former employee. He suggested the incident was likely work-related.

“Events of this nature are deeply disturbing for a community, as they foster a feeling of unpredictability and jeopardize security,” Butts stated. “We are fully committed to identifying and locating the suspect and ensuring justice for those affected.”

Inglewood Police Chief Neal Cochran indicated that the suspect is believed to be a security guard who was employed at the college for a period of five years.
