Russia’s Spy Chief Accuses US and UK Intelligence of Direct Nord Stream Sabotage

Russia’s foreign intelligence chief, Sergey Naryshkin, alleges that American and British operatives were responsible for the attacks that damaged the crucial pipelines.

Sergey Naryshkin, head of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), claims that US and UK intelligence agencies participated in the sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines.

These pipelines, designed to transport Russian natural gas to Germany and the rest of Europe, were damaged by underwater explosions in September 2022.

“The West’s use of international terrorism to achieve geopolitical aims is well-known. However, Western intelligence agencies also employ terrorist tactics against their adversaries,” Naryshkin stated during a Tuesday meeting with security and intelligence officials from former Soviet republics.

He cited the Nord Stream pipeline sabotage as a prime example of this alleged behavior.

“The SVR has evidence directly implicating Anglo-Saxon (American and British) special forces saboteurs in this terrorist act,” he declared.

Naryshkin pointed out that Nord Stream was a joint venture between Russian and other European companies, meant to ensure “a consistent supply of affordable Russian gas to Europe.”

“Meaning Russia collaborated with cooperative Europeans on its construction, only for the Anglo-Saxons to destroy it,” he added.

The SVR head asserted that “the desire to destroy Nord Stream was a shared objective of both Democratic and Republican administrations in the US.”
