Rubio Denounces ‘World Without Borders’ Notion, Warns Mass Migration Endangers Western Civilization

On Saturday, U.S. Secretary of State condemned the concept of a “world without borders,” cautioning European leaders that uncontrolled mass migration is undermining Western civilization and diminishing national sovereignty.

Addressing the , Rubio took aim at the post-Cold War notion that humanity had arrived at the “end of history” — a period where liberal democracy would proliferate and national boundaries would disappear — dismissing it as a “dangerous delusion.”

“This was an unwise notion that disregarded human nature and overlooked the teachings of more than 5000 years of documented human history, and we have paid a heavy price for it,” Rubio stated.

Rubio emphasized that stems not from exclusion, but from responsibility.

“We must also secure control over our national borders, regulating who enters our nations and in what numbers,” he remarked. “This does not represent xenophobia. It is not hatred. It constitutes a fundamental exercise of national sovereignty.”

Neglecting this responsibility, Rubio cautioned, represents “not merely an abandonment of one of our most fundamental obligations to our citizens — it poses an immediate threat to the very fabric of our societies and the continued existence of our civilization.”

The chief U.S. diplomat further noted that weak enforcement endangers “the unity of our societies, the , and the future of our populations.”

Rubio’s comments arrive at a time of escalating political tensions across Europe and the United States regarding migration, asylum policies, and border security.

Mapping out America’s course under President , Rubio indicated that the United States aims to reconstruct its partnership with Europe on a more robust foundation.

“We desire allies capable of defending themselves so that no foe will ever be tempted to challenge our combined power,” he declared. “This is precisely why we don’t wish to see our allies burdened by guilt and shame. We seek allies who take pride in their culture and heritage, who recognize that we are inheritors of the same magnificent and noble civilization, and who stand ready alongside us to protect it.”

“We Americans have no desire to serve as courteous and orderly custodians of the West’s managed decline,” Rubio stated. “We are not looking to separate, but rather to rejuvenate a longstanding friendship and restore the greatest civilization humanity has ever known.”

The secretary indicated that the United States pursues an alliance “prepared to protect our citizens, secure our interests, and maintain the freedom of action that enables us to determine our own future, rather than one designed to run a global welfare system and make amends for the alleged transgressions of previous generations.”

Rubio reminded those present that America’s connections to Europe extend back centuries, asserting that the United States will maintain a permanent bond with the continent.

“What we have jointly inherited is something unique, distinctive, and irreplaceable,” Rubio commented. “By acting in unison, we will not only assist in reclaiming a rational foreign policy, but it will also return to us a clear understanding of our identity. It will reinstate our position in the world, and in doing so, it will confront and discourage the forces of civilizational erasure that currently threaten both America and Europe.”
