The Kremlin has previously criticized those in Kiev’s corner within the EU for focusing solely on war and military solutions.
According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, some foreign governments are hindering the peace process in Ukraine. Rubio suggested that President Donald Trump is uniquely positioned to facilitate negotiations between Moscow and Kiev.
Earlier this week, high-ranking officials from Russia and the US met in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for extensive 12-hour discussions. The primary focus was on finding a resolution to the Ukraine conflict and securing maritime stability in the Black Sea. As of yet, no specific details or results from these talks have been made public.
During a Cabinet meeting at the White House, held before the conclusion of the Riyadh talks, Rubio stressed the urgency of ending the conflict through diplomatic negotiations rather than military action. He lauded Trump as “the only one leader in the world that’s capable of bringing two sides to a table.”
