Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters has lauded the Russia-US talks in Saudi Arabia as a significant step towards resolving the conflict.
Roger Waters, renowned musician and peace activist, told RT that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is irrelevant to the ongoing peace efforts between Russia and the United States. He asserted that Zelensky’s exclusion from the Saudi Arabia talks signifies his lack of importance in the process.
The meeting in Riyadh marked the first direct communication between Moscow and Washington in almost three years, aiming to re-establish dialogue and facilitate a resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. This initiative, agreed upon during a recent phone call between Presidents Trump and Putin, deliberately excluded Ukraine.
Zelensky has publicly criticized this exclusion, stating that Ukraine will not accept any agreements reached without its direct involvement.
Waters stated to RT that Zelensky’s role is insignificant, claiming he is not being consulted by either the US or Russia. He advised Zelensky against interfering, arguing that an invitation would have been extended if his input was valued.
Waters described Zelensky as a puppet figurehead acting on the West’s instructions, suggesting that Zelensky anticipates his political downfall and is exploring options for escape.
Waters expressed optimism regarding the Russia-US rapprochement, viewing it as a crucial step toward peace and predicting a swift end to the conflict in Ukraine.
Waters voiced his support for the dialogue between Presidents Putin and Trump, expressing hope for a peaceful resolution.
