NY Post Photographer Shot in Head by LA Police During Protest (VIDEO)

A New York Post photographer, Toby Canham, was injured by a rubber bullet while covering protests against immigration raids.

During demonstrations and unrest in Los Angeles concerning immigration, a New York Post photojournalist was struck in the head by a police officer’s rubber bullet.

The incident took place on Sunday night while Toby Canham photographed a confrontation between demonstrators and the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The Post reports that Canham was wearing his press badge when he was hit and fell. He was hospitalized on Monday for whiplash and neck discomfort and sustained a significant bruise on his forehead, according to the paper.

“When I got whacked, to my best recollection, I was just me filming with my cameras on – and then I got shot,” Canham stated. “I wasn’t surrounded, so I was an easy target.”

He also mentioned that someone to his left had thrown a bottle at police officers and then fled the scene shortly before he was struck.

On the same day, Australian journalist Lauren Tomasi was shot in the leg with a rubber bullet by an officer while reporting on protests downtown.
