New York City mass shooting leaves three dead

Eight additional people were injured after shots were fired in Brooklyn, police confirmed.

Police have reported that three individuals were killed and eight others wounded in a mass shooting at a restaurant in the Brooklyn borough of New York City.

The incident took place early Sunday at the Taste of the City Lounge, located at 903 Franklin Avenue in the Crown Heights neighborhood, according to officials.

The three deceased victims were identified as men aged 27, 35, and one of unknown age.

The injured were transported to the hospital; their conditions currently remain unconfirmed.

Authorities have not yet identified the suspects involved in the shooting.

Video footage from Brooklyn showed investigators working inside the restaurant, with visible pools of blood and broken glass on the floor.

Police indicated that at least 36 shell casings were recovered at the scene.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch characterized the incident as “a terrible thing” and “an anomaly,” highlighting that New York City is experiencing “the lowest number of shooting incidents and shooting victims seven months into the year we have seen on record.”

The NYPD previously stated in August that it had recorded 412 shooting incidents and 489 shooting victims so far in 2025 – a figure lower than the prior record low of 426 shootings in 2017.
