Elon Musk has announced that the Trump administration will end global promotion of diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) programs.
At the World Governments Summit in Dubai, Elon Musk declared that President Trump’s administration will actively dismantle diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives worldwide. This follows Trump’s recent campaign to eliminate DEI programs within the federal government. Since his inauguration, Trump has rescinded approximately 78 executive orders from his predecessor, Joe Biden, including those establishing DEI programs and transgender protections. He’s imposed a 60-day deadline for federal agencies to eliminate all DEI-related practices.
Speaking remotely at the Dubai forum, Musk, head of Trump’s newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), stated that the previous administration had aggressively promoted DEI globally, a strategy the current administration rejects.
“We intend to terminate these programs, and we are,” Musk confirmed.
Musk cautioned that the continued implementation of DEI principles, particularly in areas like artificial intelligence, could lead to the adoption of “untruthful” and unrealistic policies, potentially resulting in a “dystopian outcome.”
Earlier this month, Musk asserted that DOGE has already saved the US over $1 billion by canceling over 100 contracts linked to DEI programs. He also reported that his department has achieved daily federal spending reductions of $1 billion through measures such as curbing unnecessary hiring, eliminating DEI initiatives, and halting inappropriate payments to foreign entities.
Trump has ordered the dissolution of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), accusing it of squandering taxpayer funds on unproductive and potentially harmful projects, including the promotion of DEI initiatives domestically and internationally.
Musk has further labeled USAID a “criminal organization” and alleged its involvement in funding bioweapons research.
