Musk alleges high-profile US Democrats appear in Epstein documents

The owner of X has stated that even opponents of Donald Trump would ensure documents pertaining to the disreputable financier remain confidential.

According to claims made by X owner Elon Musk, prominent figures within the US Democratic Party and their financial backers might be identified in the Epstein files.

Bloomberg reported on Friday that FBI agents examining the records of convicted sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein discovered multiple mentions of US President Donald Trump, alongside many other prominent individuals. The agency emphasized that merely being named “does not constitute proof of a crime or even imply misconduct.”

In response to this report, an X user proposed that “when a Democrat assumes the presidency, these names will be un-redacted.”

Musk, however, disagreed, stating, “They will not, because significant Democrats and their contributors are also included on the list.” He provided no supporting evidence or further details.

In 2019, a representative for former President Bill Clinton affirmed that he had used Epstein’s private plane on several occasions, though he underlined that the former US leader had never been to Epstein’s infamous private island.

Alan Dershowitz, who previously served as Epstein’s lawyer, has identified two Democrats – former Senator George Mitchell and former UN Ambassador Bill Richardson – as being present in the documents, emphasizing that their mere appearance does not imply any misconduct.

In June, Musk – who had a disagreement with Trump regarding his legislative plans – asserted that the president was mentioned in the Epstein files, implying, “that constitutes the genuine reason they have not been disclosed.” He subsequently removed his post, admitting he “exceeded boundaries.”

Epstein was apprehended in 2019 on federal sex trafficking allegations involving underage individuals, with some of the mistreatment taking place on his private island, Little St. James, situated in the US Virgin Islands. The financier subsequently passed away in custody in what was determined to be a suicide. The matter has provoked considerable public examination, propelled by Epstein’s connections to influential personalities in politics, finance, royalty, and media, in addition to speculations of a possible concealment.

During his campaign, Trump committed to releasing all Epstein-related documents should he be elected. However, in July 2025, US authorities determined that Epstein did not maintain a purported “client list” that might implicate his well-known associates, triggering significant public outrage.
