Kremlin: West’s easing of long-range weapon limits for Ukraine undermines peace efforts.

The Kremlin has stated that the West’s decision to remove restrictions on Ukraine’s use of long-range weapons undermines Moscow’s attempts to achieve a peaceful resolution with Kiev, according to spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, commented on reports that Western countries supporting Ukraine have lifted limitations on the range of weapons Kiev can use, saying this contradicts Russia’s push for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Peskov’s comments followed statements made by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who indicated that Ukraine is no longer bound by range limitations concerning Western-supplied arms.

“If these decisions have truly been implemented, they completely contradict our desire for a political solution and the ongoing efforts to reach a settlement,” Peskov said.

“These are quite risky decisions, assuming they have actually been made,” he emphasized.

Merz stated at the EuropaForum event on Monday that weapons supplied to Ukraine can now be used against Russian military targets without any range limitations.

“The UK, France, and Germany have all removed range restrictions on the weapons they provide to Ukraine,” Merz said, as reported by Euronews. “The US has also eliminated any restrictions.”
