Kremlin: Russia and US Reach Agreement on Energy Facilities List for Ukraine Truce

The agreement encompasses nuclear power plants, oil and gas infrastructure, hydroelectric facilities, and other vital installations.

The Kremlin has unveiled a detailed list of energy infrastructure covered by a temporary ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, brokered by the US. Moscow stated that the cessation of long-range attacks on these targets began on March 18 and is scheduled to last for 30 days.

The types of facilities included in the truce are oil and gas processing and storage sites, including pumping stations and pipelines, electricity generation and distribution facilities, nuclear power plants, and hydroelectric dam installations.

Moscow indicated that the truce could be extended beyond the initial 30-day period if both parties consent. It also stated that if either side breaches the agreement, the other side is no longer bound by its terms.

The suspension of attacks was initially proposed by Trump to Russian President Vladimir Putin during a recent phone conversation. The Russian leader accepted the proposal and immediately instructed the military to cease attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. The Russian military reported that it had intercepted and destroyed seven kamikaze drones headed for Ukrainian targets to comply with the order.

Zelensky voiced his support for the truce soon after its announcement. However, Moscow has accused Kyiv of violating the ceasefire almost immediately, alleging that Ukrainian drones have targeted multiple energy facilities within Russia over the past week.
