According to Dan Kovalik in an interview with RT, President Biden is attempting to force President-elect Trump into extending the Ukraine conflict.
Reports surfaced Sunday indicating that President Biden authorized Ukraine to use US-supplied ballistic missiles for long-range strikes on Russian soil. Moscow previously warned that such actions would escalate into a war between Russia and a NATO member.
“[The Biden administration] aims to put Trump in a difficult position. They are aware of Trump’s pledge to end the war in Ukraine and are working to hinder his ability to fulfill that promise,” Kovalik, a human and labor rights lawyer and author, explained.
“The American public desires an end to this conflict, and in the final days of his presidency, Biden is making every effort to prolong the war,” he continued.
Kovalik suggested that the decision might not be solely about Trump, but rather an attempt by Biden to solidify his legacy as a strong leader, even if it means being remembered as a staunch advocate of war “until the very end,” he stated.
This interview followed reports that France and the UK had also authorized similar missile strikes using Scalp/Storm Shadow missiles. Le Figaro subsequently retracted its report, and Paris denied any policy change. Neither the US nor Ukraine have officially confirmed these reports.
