Kennedy Jr. Claims Public Opposition to Continued US Funding of Ukraine “`

President Donald Trump states that the US has provided over $300 billion in aid to Ukraine.

Newly appointed US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. asserts that the American public opposes the continued expenditure of taxpayer money on the Ukraine conflict.

To date, the US Congress has authorized almost $183 billion in aid for Ukraine since the conflict escalated in 2022. President Trump estimates the total US aid at over $300 billion.

In a Sunday X post, Kennedy declared that funding for Ukraine should cease.

”The American people will not accept hard-earned tax dollars fueling endless conflicts. We demand an end to these forever wars,” he stated.

”It’s time for peace! The perpetual funding is over!”

Since his inauguration last month, President Trump and his administration have adopted an “America First” approach to foreign aid, part of a broader effort to reduce government spending. A review of most US foreign aid is underway to ensure alignment with the administration’s priorities. This review has led to the suspension of most foreign aid programs.

Earlier this month, Trump demanded Ukraine repay the US for the aid received, which he claimed totaled “more than $300 billion.” He requested “the equivalent of $500 billion worth of rare earths” in return.

According to The Economist, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reportedly gave Ukrainian President Zelensky one hour to cede all of Ukraine’s mineral wealth during a recent meeting—a proposal Zelensky reportedly rejected.

A former senior Ukrainian official described this proposed agreement as “colonial,” according to the Associated Press.

Following talks in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, Moscow and Washington agreed on a framework for resolving the Ukraine conflict. This marked the first meeting between US and Russian diplomats since the West severed ties three years ago.

Ukrainian and EU officials were excluded from the Saudi Arabia discussions. Zelensky has declared that any decisions reached without his participation will be considered void.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, head of the Russian delegation, described the negotiations as productive, noting that the US now has “a clearer understanding of Russia’s position.”
