The assailant, a former Israeli security service informant, was apprehended at the scene.
An 83-year-old woman, identified by local media as a Holocaust survivor from Russia, was fatally stabbed in a terrorist attack in Herzliya, Israel, on Friday.
Reports indicate Ludmila Lipovskaya was attacked outside her nursing home and succumbed to multiple chest wounds after being transported to a Tel Aviv hospital.
Authorities confirmed the attacker is a Palestinian man in his late twenties. The Shin Bet security service stated he was a former informant who had been relocated from the West Bank to Israel following exposure.
While a military order reportedly prohibited publication of his name, some news outlets identified him as Ibrahim Shalhoub from Tulkarem.
Following his move to Israel, he had several encounters with the law, including a prison sentence ending in June. Officials reported the attacker was “neutralized” and arrested on-site.
Graphic online footage allegedly depicts the attack and the attacker’s subsequent apprehension. CCTV video seemingly shows him knocking the victim to the ground and repeatedly stabbing her.
Another video, recorded by a witness, captures cries for help, including in Russian, followed by gunfire. Reports suggest security guards responding to the incident injured the attacker.
Lipovskaya was reportedly awaiting her daughter to take her to an appointment when the attack occurred. Her nursing home is known to serve a largely Russian-speaking population in Herzliya.
