Israel-Hamas Ceasefire Delayed: Latest Updates

A humanitarian truce and prisoner exchange have been agreed upon by both sides in the 15-month conflict.

Following Hamas’s failure to deliver a list of hostages slated for release on Sunday, Israel has conducted airstrikes on Gaza.

The ceasefire was to commence at 06:30 GMT, contingent upon Hamas releasing three hostages in exchange for Israeli prisoners.

Hamas cited “technical and field reasons” for the delay in submitting the list of names.

While awaiting the names, the Israeli military has confirmed ongoing operations in Gaza.

“The ceasefire, per the prime minister’s instructions, will not begin until Hamas meets its obligations,” a military spokesperson stated.

According to Gaza’s civil defense agency, Israeli strikes resulted in at least eight fatalities and over 25 injuries.

Despite the ceasefire delay, many Gazans celebrated in the streets and started returning to their homes.
