Iran vows to take ‘any measures necessary’ to secure a nuclear deal: report

An Iranian official affirmed on Tuesday that his nation is prepared to do “whatever it takes” to achieve an agreement with the U.S. concerning its nuclear program.

This pledge from Majid Takht-Ravanchi emerges as U.S. representatives, including Jared Kushner, are scheduled to convene with an Iranian delegation in Geneva on Thursday, Reuters reports.

Takht-Ravanchi was quoted as stating, “We are prepared to finalize an agreement without delay. We are committed to doing everything necessary to achieve this. We will approach the negotiating room in Geneva with utmost honesty and good faith.”

He further remarked, “Should Iran face an attack or aggression, we will retaliate in accordance with our defense strategies. … A U.S. assault on Iran would be a significant risk.”

The news publication has sought comment from the White House.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated Tuesday morning that President Donald Trump’s primary approach for Iran is “always diplomacy,” though he remains “prepared to employ the lethal force of the United States military if required.”

President Trump posted on Truth Social on Monday, cautioning that “it will be a very bad day” for Iran if the nation fails to secure an agreement regarding its nuclear program.

In a statement, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared on Tuesday, “Building upon the understandings established in the previous round, Iran will recommence discussions with the U.S. in Geneva, determined to secure a fair and equitable agreement — as swiftly as possible.

“Our fundamental convictions are unequivocally clear: ever develop a nuclear weapon; nor will we Iranians ever relinquish our right to harness the benefits of peaceful nuclear technology for our populace.

He further asserted, “We possess a historic chance to forge an unparalleled agreement that addresses shared concerns and fulfills mutual interests. An accord is attainable, but only if diplomacy is prioritized,” adding, “We have demonstrated our unwavering commitment to bravely safeguard our sovereignty. We bring this same resolve to the negotiating table, where we will seek a peaceful resolution to any disagreements.”
