Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned Saturday that Tehran will strike U.S. military installations in the region if American forces initiate an attack, according to a report.
The statement followed Araghchi’s remarks Friday that indirect nuclear discussions with the U.S. in Oman represented “a good start” and that both sides agreed the negotiations should continue.
“Attacking American territory isn’t feasible, but we will hit their regional bases” if U.S. forces assault Iran, Araghchi told Al Jazeera on Saturday.
“We won’t strike neighboring nations; instead, we’ll target U.S. bases located within them. That’s significantly different,” he reportedly added.
The U.S. last June in what has come to be known as Operation Midnight Hammer.

There have been 14 missiles fired — 13 were knocked down, and 1 was ‘set free,’ because it was headed in a nonthreatening direction,” the president posted on Truth Social.
Concerning Friday’s nuclear discussions, Araghchi stated, “It was a good start, but whether it continues depends on consultations in our capitals and determining the next steps.”
Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi held meetings with Iranian and American officials on Friday, the Omani Foreign Ministry announced on X. The ministry stated that al-Busaidi conducted separate talks with Araghchi and U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
“The discussions centered on creating suitable conditions to resume diplomatic and technical negotiations, highlighting their significance, given the parties’ commitment to ensuring their success in promoting lasting security and stability,” the Omani Foreign Ministry stated.
