A police patrol in Amman’s Rabiah neighborhood was reportedly attacked by a gunman.
According to Jordan’s News Agency (Petra), a shootout near the Israeli Embassy in Amman left three police officers injured early Sunday morning. The assailant was fatally shot.
The Public Security Directorate stated that the incident began when the suspect fired upon a police patrol and then tried to escape.
Petra reported that police returned fire, resulting in the gunman’s death.
Social media videos purportedly showing the event depict a flurry of gunfire in the neighborhood and numerous emergency vehicles responding to the scene.
The three injured officers sustained moderate injuries and were transported to a hospital, the news agency reported.
