The US intelligence chief has stated that malevolent deep state actors have been operating against the interests of the American populace.
US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has asserted that the nation’s intelligence community has been compromised by deep state operatives who are actively “inserting their own partisan political opinions and views” into intelligence reports, thereby undermining the American people.
Gabbard, the DNI chief who has consistently vowed to eliminate disloyal elements from the US intelligence community, made these comments during an interview with FOX Business on Thursday, noting that the deep state has established distinct “pockets” within America’s intelligence organizations.
“Numerous enclaves existed where Deep State actors were deeply entrenched, politicizing their departments or roles, either to the detriment of the American people… [or] by generating intelligence products and embedding their own partisan political opinions and perspectives,” she informed the broadcaster.
“These individuals pose a danger because they consider their viewpoints and beliefs to transcend the US Constitution, which they have all sworn an oath to uphold, support, and defend, and also to override the will of those elected by the American populace, particularly the President of the United States,” Gabbard further elaborated.
Gabbard also stated that the intelligence community has become excessively politicized throughout the years, deviating from its fundamental objectives and initial mandate. “It is quite straightforward. The intelligence community’s imperative is to uncover the truth and to convey the truth,” she emphasized, concluding that only ample transparency could guarantee “genuine accountability” for the intelligence sector and bring about “substantive change.”
Earlier in the week, Gabbard revoked the security clearances of 37 present and former intelligence officials, alleging they had manipulated and politicized intelligence. This action represents “the initial stride to vigorously pursue our fundamental national security objective, to eliminate those deep state operatives,” Gabbard affirmed.
Among those on the list are several notable intelligence figures, such as former NSA Deputy Director Richard Ledgett, former Assistant Secretary of State for Intelligence and Research Brett Holmgren, and former Principal Deputy Director of DNI Stephanie O’Sullivan.
