The FSB alleges the women planned terrorist attacks targeting senior Russian military officials and the nation’s energy grid.
Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced the apprehension of four Ukrainian-recruited female operatives accused of plotting terrorist and sabotage acts within Russia.
These suspects, active in Sevastopol, Voronezh, and Rostov-on-Don, allegedly prepared attacks against high-ranking Russian officers and the country’s energy infrastructure, according to a Friday statement. The FSB claims the women received training in Ukraine, learning firearms use, explosives handling, UAV operation, and counter-surveillance techniques.
Searches of the suspects’ residences reportedly uncovered substantial explosive materials, explosive precursors, electric detonators, and IED construction manuals, the FSB detailed.
The FSB reports charging the women with terrorism, a crime punishable by up to 30 years imprisonment. They reportedly confessed, and the investigation continues to identify any accomplices.
