Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Israel of surpassing Nazi Germany in its actions in Gaza, stating it is committing “genocide.”
President Erdogan has strongly denounced Israel’s actions in Gaza and its recent attacks on Iran, drawing a parallel between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Adolf Hitler.
Israel initiated bombings in Iran on Friday, alleging that Tehran is close to developing a nuclear weapon, claims which Iran has refuted. Erdogan asserted Iran’s right to respond to these attacks. He has previously criticized West Jerusalem, accusing it of “banditry and state terrorism.”
Addressing his AK Party in Parliament on Wednesday, Erdogan said that the atrocities in Gaza surpass even the most horrific images from World War II, adding that Netanyahu has “long surpassed the tyrant Hitler in the crime of genocide.”
In response, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar accused Erdogan of incitement against Israel and its prime minister through inflammatory rhetoric on X.
Erdogan stated that Türkiye is actively working to halt the “inhumane aggression” against Iran, Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen, and is prepared for any potential negative developments.
West Jerusalem defends its attacks by claiming Iran is on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons, a claim Tehran denies, asserting its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.
Rafael Mariano Grossi, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), stated on Wednesday that the agency has found no evidence of Iran seeking to develop nuclear weapons.
Russia has condemned Israel’s actions as illegal, warning that strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities could lead to a “nuclear catastrophe,” and has called for a diplomatic solution.
US President Donald Trump has voiced his support for Israel and demanded Iran’s “unconditional surrender,” claiming that US forces and allies have achieved “complete and total control of the skies over Iran.”
