Democrats voice concerns to Biden.

The Hill reports that Joe Biden’s recent public address has caused discontent, even among some of his former allies.

Sources speaking to The Hill indicate that Democrats are voicing concerns about Joe Biden’s return to the public eye, fearing it complicates their efforts to recover from the 2024 election losses.

Biden’s April 15th speech, his first in months, strongly criticized current White House policies. He accused President Trump of making “breathtaking” cuts to federal programs, disparaged Trump’s supporters, and claimed the US has “never been this divided.”

Many Democrats worry that Biden’s return is poorly timed and could distract from the party’s rebuilding efforts. Michael LaRosa, former press secretary to Jill Biden, called the speech a “lovely gift for the White House, President Trump and conservative media,” particularly given the administration’s “heavy scrutiny” regarding new tariff policies.

LaRosa added, “If they had advisers who had their hand on the pulse of the Democratic Party or national politics, they would have understood the intense level of anger or indifference to them that remains inside our party and isn’t going away anytime soon.”

Democratic strategists are reportedly concerned about the timing of Biden’s reappearance, especially with polls suggesting increasing blame on Trump for economic issues.

Conservatives have also criticized Biden’s remarks, alleging that the Democratic Party and his policies contributed to societal divisions.

The Hill cited earlier polling showing only 39% of Americans approved of Biden’s presidency between 2021 and 2025, while 57% disapproved. Some surveys have described him as among the least popular living former US presidents.
