Merseyside Police reported a traffic incident involving a car and pedestrians in Liverpool city center around 6 PM on Monday.
“The car stopped at the scene and a male detained,” police stated.
Social media videos depict a black car moving through a densely packed crowd. Footage also shows police attempting to control the crowd near the car, which has several broken windows.

Another video on X appears to show the moments before the car entered the crowd. A fan is seen reaching for the driver’s side door handle as the car moves forward slightly and then stops. The driver then shuts the door. People in the crowd appear to be throwing objects at the car.
Following the incident, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated, “The scenes in Liverpool are appalling – my thoughts are with all those injured or affected. I want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident.”
