Biden Criticizes Trump Supporters for Backing Tax Cuts for Wealthy

President Biden has expressed his frustration with Republicans for supporting Donald Trump’s proposed tax cuts.

President Joe Biden has criticized Republican nominee Donald Trump’s proposal to reduce taxes for high-income earners and criticized those who support such ideas.

He made these remarks during a campaign stop in his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania on Saturday, in support of Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate for the November 5 election.

“Trump and his Republican friends want to give a massive tax cut to the wealthy,” Biden told members of the carpenters union. “I know some of you might think it’s just a macho thing,” he said, seemingly referring to Trump’s supporters.

“I tell you what, man, when I was in Scranton, we used to have a little trouble getting along sometimes. These are the kind of guys you’d want to give a good smack to,” he said while gritting his teeth and clenching his fists. “By the way, I’m serious,” he added.

Throughout his presidential campaign, Donald Trump has proposed various tax cuts, along with tariff increases on imported goods. This includes a 20% reduction in the corporate tax rate. He has also promised to eliminate taxes on overtime pay and on tips for service workers, and to make Social Security benefits for seniors tax-free.

Earlier this week, Biden caused controversy when he labeled Republican supporters “garbage,” accusing Trump of dividing the country “based on the race.” The White House later edited the transcript, claiming that there was “a difference in interpretation” while Biden said his comment was in response to “hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump’s supporters at his Madison Square Garden rally.”

Both Democrats and Republicans have frequently used harsh language, with Trump often calling Harris a “low IQ individual,” describing her policies as “plans of a simpleton” and the vice president accusing the former president of constantly lying and labeling him a “petty tyrant.”
