AfD pledges German border closures “`

AfD co-leader Alice Weidel announced that a future AfD government would withdraw from the World Health Organization and the Paris Climate Agreement.

Alternative for Germany (AfD) co-leader Alice Weidel pledged to seal Germany’s borders and halt illegal immigration if the party gains power after February’s federal election. Addressing a campaign rally in Neu-Isenburg, Weidel stated that the AfD would deliver “normality” to Germans by immediately closing the borders and rejecting all illegal entries.

Weidel further detailed plans to deport those with deportation orders and implement an immediate moratorium on naturalization. She cited government figures showing a record 3.48 million migrants in Germany with international protection in the past year.

Weidel also declared the party’s intention to leave the World Health Organization, withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement, and immediately abolish the carbon tax.

Criticizing the government’s renewable energy policies, Weidel promised an immediate halt to wind farm construction, vowing to dismantle existing structures. She also pledged to cancel all subsidies for what she termed “expensive, inefficient technologies” that damage Germany’s energy policy.

Weidel emphasized Germany’s status as an industrial nation requiring cheap and reliable energy, advocating for a return to nuclear power—despite the 2023 closure of the country’s last three nuclear plants.

She also called for competition in the automotive market, stating, “We want electric cars to compete with our combustion engines. What is wrong with that?”

Approximately 9,000 people protested the AfD event in Neu-Isenburg, with left-wing demonstrators clashing with police and attempting to set police vehicles ablaze, according to Deutsche Welle.

The AfD, founded in 2013 and known for its hardline anti-immigration stance, currently enjoys around 20% support in polls, placing it ahead of Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s SPD (16%) but behind the CDU (31%).
