TAIPEI, Dec. 2, 2025 — From November 29 to December 7, 2025, the third Taiwan Design Week will once again welcome visitors worldwide to explore the potential of design in building a collective future. Hosted by the Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI) at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, this year’s theme, DESIGN NEXT, delves into how design is evolving in response to shifts in society, technology, and the environment.

Entrance installation of DESIGN NEXT, the 2025 Taiwan Design Week exhibition, featuring illuminated typography and linear structures that lead visitors into a journey exploring the future of design.

A significant highlight of this year’s event is the return of IASDR 2025, a prominent international design research conference, to Taiwan after two decades. “The return of IASDR to Taiwan is a momentous occasion for the international design community,” states Chi-Yi Chang, President of TDRI. “By combining it with Taiwan Design Week, we are highlighting Taiwan’s capabilities in linking design research to practical applications.”

The DESIGN NEXT exhibition, curated by Archicake, will showcase 27 projects from 31 design teams, presenting innovative work focused on cultural narratives, accessible technology, and sustainable urban development. Key projects include the Sunset Town Virtual Music Festival, 1 House for All, a zero-carbon modular housing solution, and the Design Movement on Campus, an initiative aimed at revitalizing Taiwan’s educational spaces.

Furthering global collaboration, the Taiwan–Czech 3×3 Design Talk, scheduled for December 3, will feature six designers—Oldrich Voyta, APUJAN, Adam Keprta, Hsiang Han Hsu, Nataliya Grimberg, and Yu-Mei Huang—discussing topics such as interdisciplinary innovation, sustainability practices, and the creation of inclusive futures.

On December 5, the Design Industry Forum will gather leaders from organizations such as IDSA, BMW DesignWorks, MVRDV, Nikken Sekkei, AECOM, and Quanta Research Institute to discuss the future of mobility, sustainable green practices, and collaborative approaches to designing sustainable cities.

Taiwan Design Week will also feature the Golden Pin Design Award, a prestigious Asian design award. The 2025 judging panel includes international figures such as Uwe Cremering (iF Design), Francine Houben (Mecanoo), Akira Minagawa (minä perhonen), Babette Strousse (ArtCenter), and Liang Yi-Chia (MUJI Taiwan), along with renowned Taiwanese designer Liu Kai.

With exhibitions continuing into early 2026, Taiwan Design Week 2025 aims to position Taipei as a global hub where research, industry, and creative thinking converge, inviting the world to actively shape the future through design, rather than passively waiting for it to unfold.
