The Crypto Currency Now Has SongChicago, Illinois Apr 6, 2024 – “The Bitcoin National Anthem” was released by the indie rock duo Luminous Wavez.
Bitcoin now has a national anthem, or at least that’s the hope of the independent music artists Luminous Wavez. Using the melody of the U.S. national anthem “The Star Spangled Banner” with modified lyrics to reflect the principles of Bitcoin, “The Bitcoin National Anthem” is a call for patriotism of Bitcoin, freedom, and peace over government control of money and fiat funded wars.
Running at a swift minute and five seconds, “The Bitcoin National Anthem” begins by embracing the Bitcoin ethos of stacking sats, self-custody, and hodling. It drops the name of the anonymous founder of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, and alludes to the disdain Bitcoiners have for central banks. The song ends on a hopeful note that embracing Bitcoin can lead to freedom and world peace.
“My creative side saw how Bitcoin’s core values could fit into a short, sweet lyric and melody that millions of people were already familiar with.” said lyricist Mike Dobbins. “I hope this makes it easier for people to learn and remember the song. I think Francis Scott Key would be supportive as he was a strong advocate for freedom and independence from state tyranny.”
Sung with the haunting baritone vocals of Leaone (Lee-own) from the U.K., the song has an international, borderless element just like Bitcoin, as Dobbins is from the United States. Along with the song, the band created cover art that consists of a single person on the top of a mountain holding a Bitcoin flag, seemingly declaring his independence from the world.
A Bitcoiner since 2017, Dobbins has been itching to create a Bitcoin song for years. The inspiration finally came to him after seeing the enormous enthusiasm for pro-Bitcoin President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador. Bukele’s embrace of Bitcoin has transformed El Salvador into one of the safest and most prosperous countries on earth and is inspiring to all freedom loving people.
Luminous Wavez purposefully released the song on April 5 to send a message. On that date in 1933 President Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed an executive order confiscating all U.S. citizen’s gold. Bitcoin, often referred to as digital gold, thumbs its nose at such tyrannical overreach because it is unconfiscatable when held in self-custody. Bitcoin is the first asset in history to provide true financial freedom from the thievery and inflation caused by government central banks.
“I hope the Bitcoin community is receptive to the song. I think it has a lot of potential to unite, inspire, and educate.” said Dobbins. “I know it’s a lot of gall to think we can create the Bitcoin National Anthem, but someone’s gotta try. Since Bitcoin has no hierarchy or President, the marketplace will ultimately decide. Just listening to it makes me feel more patriotic about Bitcoin, and being patriotic about Bitcoin is a good thing. I hope it will do the same for the Bitcoin masses.”
