Avatar Construction Launches Holiday Initiative to Combat Homelessness in Watertown “`

Watertown, Massachusetts, December 9, 2024 – As the holidays approach, Avatar Construction, a Watertown-based construction and real estate firm, is launching a community initiative to address homelessness. CEO Nazar Vincent encourages local businesses and residents to collaborate in supporting those in need this holiday season.

Vincent stated, “The holidays should bring warmth and joy to all, but many in our community face uncertainty and hardship. We must assist our homeless neighbors, and together we can make a difference.”

According to the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, over 18,000 people experience homelessness in Massachusetts nightly. In Watertown and greater Boston, the lack of affordable housing and increased living costs have exacerbated homelessness among individuals and families.

Avatar Construction’s initiative will:

  • Raise Awareness: Educate the public about homelessness through social media and community events.
  • Collect Donations: Organize a holiday drive for warm clothing, blankets, and non-perishable food for local shelters.
  • Support Local Organizations: Partner with nonprofits, such as the Watertown Homeless Coalition, to bolster their holiday efforts.

Vincent stressed, “It’s not just about temporary relief; it’s about community and compassion. Supporting local organizations ensures our contributions directly help those in need.”

Community involvement opportunities include:

  • Donate Items: Drop off new or gently used winter wear at Avatar Construction’s office (60 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA).
  • Volunteer Time: Assist at local shelters and soup kitchens.
  • Spread the Word: Share information on social media using #WatertownCares.

Besides the donation drive, Avatar Construction will host a community event on December 10th at the Watertown Public Library, featuring speakers from local shelters, testimonials, and information on ongoing support efforts.

Vincent concluded, “We aim to inspire action. Even small contributions significantly impact lives. Let’s ensure everyone in Watertown has a safe and warm holiday season.”
